I thought I'd give a little update on how my 4 simple goals are going that I wrote about in August.
#1Paint or draw when I feel the need to.
I've been filling up my sketchbook for the sketchbook project 2011, keeping up with a 30 day drawing challenge, and painted a sign for my 2 wonderful friends Chris and Amanda who were wed in Savannah on the 23rd of October ( I was a bridesmaid, it was one of my favorite days of this year without a doubt).
I think these qualify as me keeping up with this goal.
#2 Go on more dates with my husband.
Me and my hubby Shane have made sure to have "date night" every week. It's been super fun. I love having a reason to get dressed up, or plan an exciting day.
My favorite dates were going to a baseball game, Fall Festival fun at Jaemore farms in North Georgia, with all the dancing and romance of the Fanning-Mizelle wedding I think that should count as a date, and the Little 5 Halloween parade, which was just as awesome as I was hoping it would be :)
Comic con, Jaemore Farms
Braves Vs.Mets, Savannah Wedding.
#3 Make my house more of a home.
This is the goal that I've been having the most problems with.
With all the Hodgepodge signs, pillows, office supplies and the 60lb espresso grinder on my kitchen counter my house feels like a walk-in jumble sale.
I am reading a book called "The Power Of Less" by Leo Babauta about breaking down goals into manageable tasks and increasing efficiency. I'm going to take his advice by breaking down the house into rooms and tackling them one by one, then maybe it will feel more manageable. I am not defeated yet.
#4 Take more photos and frame/journal them.
Two weeks ago I decided that instead of having 11 photo frames that didn't really excite me I'd put those pictures of Shanes family in one big frame.
I love that photo in the middle, Shane's mom looks like a model.
I also printed out our vacation photos and put them in an album, and I'm working on getting frames for the main wall in my living area. I really love those frames that are old window panes like the ones from Atlanta company Dryads Dancing.
I'm doing pretty well so far, I'll let you know if I reached my goals at the end of the year.
Thanks Elsie for the motivation!
